As IntegrateWomen expanded into the automotive industry, the group launched its first targeted initiative to address gender equity in mobility and manufacturing. Understanding that women account for less than 15% of automotive sector roles in
Mexico, and that only a fraction hold leadership positions, our project began with in-depth focus groups, interviews, and sector surveys to reveal specific barriers faced by women in engineering, production, and design.
The project’s first phase prioritized outreach and knowledge building: informational webinars and skill-building workshops introduced industry trends, career pathways, and practical steps for women interested in the field.
Collaborations with associations and industry partners provided real-world perspective and opportunities for direct engagement, while public reporting helped spark strategic conversations among automotive leaders about the value of diversity.
Early results include increased interest from female job seekers and positive feedback from attendees who highlighted networking and confidence-building as major benefits. The initiative is also driving the development of new mentorship matches and advocacy groups, a sign of growing community engagement in a sector previously considered difficult to access.
