IntegrateWomen recognized that inclusion in policy development is essential for fair and robust energy solutions. In June 2024, the organization piloted a policy roundtable series in Santo Domingo, gathering women working in renewable energy, public sector regulation, and local NGOs. The goal: identify policy barriers unique to women in the Dominican Republic’s transition to solar and wind power and propose community-driven reforms.
The series involved three half-day workshops, each focused on a sector issue (skills training, financing, and grid access).
Outcomes included a public position paper, co-authored by all participants, and the formation of a WhatsApp policy advocacy group for ongoing collaboration.
The pilot demonstrated IntegrateWomen’s ability to convene stakeholders and build consensus for actionable changes in energy policy. The format is now being considered for expansion in other Caribbean and Central American settings, making women’s perspectives more influential in regional energy development.
